Angie Hunt

Angie paints what’s on her mind. Her themes relate to conflicting feelings of escapism and containment, of wilderness and domesticity.

Her current paintings feature simplified, imagined scenes with small, isolated dwellings in abstracted landscapes running in parallel with an ongoing series of more social groupings of kitchen vessels – families of bowls, bottles and goblets are assembled with a playful use of colour and pattern. Objects are often lined up in rows, perhaps seeking a sense of order in these turbulent times.

After her BA (hons) in Fine Art, the year-long Porthmeor Programme in St Ives embedded her love for that part of Cornwall, along with art residencies at Brisons Veor. Brought up by the sea, she now lives in the heart of rural England and is often away on sailing and walking adventures along the west coast of the British Isles gathering sketches, photos, memories, and beachcombings that later merge into compositions in her work.

2023 was a milestone year for Angie – she received exciting new private commissions, and her paintings were shown at the RA Summer Exhibition, at Wells Art Contemporary and the ING Discerning Eye at Mall Galleries London. She is Member and regular exhibitor at Oxford Art Society and Chelsea Arts Club.
