Based in Christchurch, Bournemouth, Dorset. Specialising in Contemporary British Art.
Caroline de Rothschild was born in South Africa, her mother was an artist and illustrator and her brother, Francis, was also
a brilliant artist, so art is in her DNA. She came to the UK in the late ‘70s and worked as a graphic artist in the advertising industry before meeting and marrying Nick de Rothschild.
Carolines recent works now incorporate the clever use of Silver, Gold and Bronze leaf, which she uses to great effect for highlights, sky, snow and water – this gives a magical extra dimension to her pictures, adding reactions or blazing suns in burnished copper skies. There are a series of these landscapes – broadly based on Exbury Gardens, where she walks every day with her husband and their tribe of scruffy dogs.
