Based in Christchurch, Bournemouth, Dorset. Specialising in Contemporary British Art.
My work is printed in my ‘studio’ at home on an Epson Stylus Photo R3000. The paper is printed on Fine Art Ink Jet paper by Hahnemühle.
If a print is required that is larger than A3+ (48.3 x 32.9cm), then I would use the best regional printer, Salt of the Earth at Shaftesbury.
My camera is a Canon 5D III and I shoot in colour. That said, I prefer to print in Absolute Black and White (ABW). This method ensures there is no magenta or cyan tint, no matter what lighting is used at home or in a gallery. Also, in my view ABW prints, with dark charcoal frames and double matte, sits well beside a watercolour or oil painting.
Just because I sell quite well, I don’t call myself a professional photographer, I prefer ‘high end amateur’. I do a lot of pro bono work for locals or friends, in order to gain experience.
My deep down preference is constructing cartoons. These are produced extracting a pen and ink drawing, painted with gouache, and placing it in a photo or a reproduction of a classic work. Currently, I am producing one a week for a web based news sheet.
