Through colour, constant editing and paring back I aim to express my feelings about the land either as a comment on current agricultural practises – monoculture, huge denuded fields and fluorescent colours – this, by definition has a political dimension. Also paradoxically to convey and celebrate the beauty I find and colour’s ability to elicit an inner and emotional response in the viewer.

Colour is used in a way that is non-literal. Placing colours one against the other is intended to evoke a parallel to the atmosphere of the subject however different that colour is from reality. Also by radical simplification of shape and composition I hope to stimulate a direct reaction in the audience.
The work is intended to be a document as well as an expression.
Ursula exhibits prolifically across the country and is in many private and public collections.
