Jenny Sutton RBSA
Jenny is a painter of flower, still life and garden subjects.
This collection of small intimate flower paintings has been made throughout the year, from the first primroses to the last rose of Autumn.
She works in oil on board or panel, and strong drawing is key to her practice, as is the observation of the play of light. She works from a live arrangement set up in her garden studio using some of her large collection of pots, baskets and glassware.
Jenny Sutton read Fine Art at Reading University in the sixties, after which she spent a period as a graphic and exhibition designer, returning to painting full time in the 80’s. She was elected a full member of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists in 2007, and regularly exhibits in their galleries in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter.
She has exhibited regularly with the Royal West of England Academy, the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, the Society of Women Artists, as well as many private galleries including Llewellyn Alexander, London, John Noott Gallery Broadway, and her own gallery, the Saltgrass Gallery, Lymington.
She was shortlisted for Artist of the Year by Artists and Illustrators magazine, 2019.
