Richard Wheeler

Richard is a landscape and seascape artist. The inspiration for his work is a longstanding appreciation of the history, variety and beauty of the English landscape, especially the coastal landscape, and its interpretation by great artists over time.  His boyhood upbringing in the New Forest and on the south coast is reflected in his paintings which are in a semi abstract, impressionistic genre. The relationship between art and poetry, especially of the sea, is reflected in his art. He works mainly with a palette knife in oil and acrylic.

Richard is an historian by training. Only in retirement has he found time to realise his full artistic potential. Born in Southampton, he has lived, worked, painted and exhibited in Dorset, Hampshire and Hertfordshire.
